You Can Scale Any Mountain With the Right Bike
Mountain biking is a great way to not only become a little more active, but depending on the terrain you chose, to get a little more excitement in your life as well. If you’d like, you can just go for a pleasant ride on a path that isn’t all that steep or doesn’t have that many bends, twists and turns. On the other hand, you can also try to challenge yourself and your bike and pick a particularly rough path. Of course, such a thing shouldn’t be attempted by anyone except those that have been mountain biking for a while now and have a firm grasp of it, as well as a bike appropriate for the task.
The skills that you will need to handle the more demanding paths will come with time and experience, but you can get a bike that is able to tackle such a challenge as soon as you decide you need it. A fully equipped mountain bike dual suspension and all should really be able to take on every challenge the mountains can throw its way, but there are also a few other factors that need to be considered. While this may sound overly complicated, you essentially need to focus on two aspects to ensure that the bike can handle just about anything.
The first thing that you need to pay attention to is the weight of the bike. A lighter bike will let you be much faster and go around a lot of obstacles and curves much smoother. Additionally, the lighter the bike, the less hard the mountain bike dual suspension will have to work in order to compensate for the rough road. What you need to beware of is that that lightness doesn’t come at the expense of structural integrity. What I mean by this is that you need to make sure that it’s made out of durable materials and that it can take some punishment.
The other thing that you will need to keep an eye out for is the equipment the bike has. I am not talking about whether or not it has a bottle holder or a customised horn that makes a funny sound when you squeeze it, but the basic equipment that it comes with. Things like the brakes, hand-grips, pedals and seat are essential and you need to be sure that they are all high quality. Make sure that the brakes can stop even on sand or slick roads, make sure that the seat is comfortable but not too soft either, and make sure that you can get a good grip on both the hand-grips and the pedals. Other than that, good luck and take care on the path.
